Goal of the session

To inspire inner strength, discipline, and a sense of purpose by connecting the life of Subhas Chandra Bose with the personal journeys of the children thereby helping them believe that they can rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society as well as inseminating the spirit of national consciousness within them.

Content Overview

  • Introduction to British Raj

To introduce children to British rule, the atrocities done to the Indians, suffering of the natives through various tools including economical suppression, racial discrimination etc.

  • Exposure to World War II

To give children a geopolitical overview of the past & also linking it to the current world conditions. The possible outcome of war and its negative impact on humanity.

  • Bose’s role in Freedom struggle-

It includes: The Great Escape by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose from the British house arrest, Aid from Europe, INA formation, Operation Vijay, Surrender of INA & its aftermaths, Mystery (Dead or Alive).

  • INA Formation:
It includes the formation of the Indian National Army to show how Subhas Chandra Bose chose courage and action to fight for freedom. This is important for children in a juvenile observation home because it teaches them that their past does not define them—they can rebuild themselves with discipline, purpose, and determination.
  • Operation Vijay (INA Campaigns):
This highlights that success does not always come easily, and even strong efforts can face failure. This is important for these children as it helps them understand that setbacks are a part of life, and what truly matters is the effort, courage, and willingness to keep trying.
  • Surrender of INA & Aftermaths:
It was included to show that even in defeat, the INA created a powerful impact on society. It is important because it teaches that one’s actions can inspire change, and even mistakes or failures can lead to something meaningful and positive in the long run.
  • Mystery: Dead or Alive:
This was chosen to spark curiosity and critical thinking about Subhas Chandra Bose’s life. For these children, it encourages questioning, thinking deeply, and understanding that not everything in life has clear answers, which helps build awareness and open-mindedness.
