Dongri ke Mastermind – Dongri Ka Apna KBC

Event Date: 11th November 2025

Today, at the Dongri Observation Home, we organized a new event called “Dongri ke Mastermind”, a quiz game show, similar to “Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)”. This event had been in planning for quite some time, but due to different reasons, it kept getting delayed. Finally, today it became a reality!

The original idea for this event came from one of our recently joined team members, Amit. He introduced us to an app called Kahoot, where we can easily create quiz games with questions and four answer options. It can be played on a computer or mobile phone. Using this app, we decided to create the quiz and have a set up like a game show in the main hall. The aim was to help children improve their general knowledge and encourage them to learn more about the world. When Amit shared this idea, everyone loved it instantly. He even created a demo for us, and when we played it, it was really fun and impactful. That’s when we decided, we must bring this to Dongri!

Amit started preparing questions for the quiz, which would have children and staff both participate, and Sheetal helped him a lot in this process. After finalizing the questions, he created a quiz in the  Kahoot app.  Sheetal and Amit took full responsibility for the event, and I helped by designing a poster to give the event an identity and a nice introduction.

After facing many challenges, the big day finally arrived! Around the same time, ‘Child Rights Week’ had started in November, and we decided to conduct “Dongri ke Mastermind” as part of it. Once again, we began preparing with full energy and enthusiasm. On the final day, Amit asked Sheetal, Puneet, and me to play once. We really enjoyed it and also got a sense of how the event would feel, while giving a few suggestions to improve its flow. The event was scheduled for 11th November 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Dongri. We put up posters and started arranging the hall. Puneet, our most recently joined teammate, was also part of it. Sheetal shared the event flow and explained everyone’s role. Amit handled the digital setup and app operations, while Sheetal and Puneet took charge of anchoring. I was responsible for helping wherever needed and clicking photos throughout the event.

Karan encouraged us to take full responsibility for this event on our own. Though he wasn’t directly involved this time, he kept guiding us with his valuable suggestions. Usually, Karan and Sheetal lead every event, so without Karan’s active involvement, I felt a bit more pressure to do well. Before the event, we started setting up the hall, arranging tables, chairs, and technical equipment. We placed four laptops on four tables. Sheetal had already selected four teams with three boys in each, and the staff participated through their mobile phones. The projector and screen were set up, and soon the hall looked ready. The children entered, and the teachers helped them settle down. To create a relaxed atmosphere, Karan played some nice songs before the event began.

Soon after, the event started! Sheetal gave an introduction, explained the rules, and shared how the quiz would be played. Puneet was asked to anchor it impromptu that morning, and it was his first time at Dongri, and he did it confidently in front of everyone. Sheetal managed the teams and guided the boys to their places, while Amit and Puneet ran the quiz. Then Amit took the lead and officially began the game. Questions started appearing on the screen, and everyone was focused! The four teams and the staff participants were busy reading and answering on their laptops and mobiles. The hall was filled with excitement and a sense of friendly competition. Amit and Sheetal had also prepared special questions for the audience, the children who were watching. After every three questions, there was one audience question, and the kids eagerly shouted the answers. During the quiz, Puneet read out each question along with its four options, which helped everyone stay connected and engaged. In between, he also added some fun and interactive jokes, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere in the hall. At the end of it, Puneet’s anchoring was a highlight of the event alongside Amit’s management of the quiz and tech!

The quiz had three rounds:

  1. General Knowledge Round
  2. Visual Round (with pictures and image-based questions)
  3. True or False Round

After each question, the names of participants who gave the right answer appeared on the screen, and the hall echoed with claps and cheers! Total scores were not visible and this kept a sense of surprise, curiosity and competition throughout the quiz. Even Kanthikar Sir (Superintendent) attended the event and enjoyed watching it. After 30 questions, the quiz ended, and the final results flashed on the screen. Everyone started clapping loudly! One of the children’s teams won first place, while the staff team came second. Sheetal had arranged prizes for both the winning team and the top staff player. The Superintendent presented the prizes and appreciated everyone’s effort. The joy and excitement on the children’s faces were truly heartwarming. It felt like watching a TV quiz show, something like KBC (Kaun Banega Crorepati), but happening right here in Dongri! Both the children and staff kept appreciating the event again and again. The Superintendent praised the event and participation, and asked the children if they wanted such events again and they all shouted, “Every week!”

Their happiness and enthusiasm were beautiful to see. In his closing remarks, the Superintendent said this kind of event helps in learning and personal development and encouraged the children to take part in organizing future activities.

With that, the event ended successfully marking a wonderful new beginning for all of us at Dongri! We plan to do this again in the girl’s section, stay tuned…
